Open innovation: long-term collaboration with ISIA Design University

Written by L&S | 21 11 2023

Over the past 5 years, we have initiated strategic activities to provide tangible signs for the growth of the territory, thanks to collaborations between the public and private sectors, institutions, and the local community,

aiming to create projects for future vision and to support the growing demand for specialized higher education in the Made in Italy and Design sectors.

In particular, we are consolidating a systemic design approach with an increasingly close collaboration with the ISIA University of Product Design (Higher Institute for Artistic Industries) in Rome and Pordenone, a stakeholder of excellence in design, education, and communication. The goal is to create a strong connection between teaching, experimentation, advanced training, and to support research and innovation in L&S teams. Here are the guidelines we are investing in:

  • we have been supporting the Pordenone Design Week for over 4 years, a wonderful opportunity for collaboration with young talents. Every year, twenty young industrial designers engage in five days of full-immersion workshops, a design challenge that has involved the development of different concepts such as the Sign system and the new Experience Centre area.
  • we support the two-year Product Design course at ISIA Rome in Pordenone.
During the SICAM fair last October, we presented Botanico within our stand, a concept designed by ISIA university students for the exhibition of objects in the retail world, to showcase the sense and results of the collaboration.
Botanico is a versatile and modular electrified structure, characterized by a system of modular arms with our Solaris luminous panels at the base, all powered by an electrified central pole. The unique design allows the product to adapt to different environments and uses: scalability, modularity, and versatility of a lighting system to enhance the in-store experience and encourage customer product selection.

It was also an opportunity to invite students and the project team to provide a hands-on experience of the transition from design concept to prototype realization. An inspiring example for students and our clients.
